Leyla Arsan, talked about the main reasons and benefits of digitalisation, how WWW (World Wide Web) changed the world, way of doing business, living and social life, how governments adapt and their policies,the new data economoy, the important aspect of social sciences and social innovation for the new digital life, the Digital Single Market of Europe and some examples of multidisciplinary marketing innovation and Open Data with citizen participation projects. Maltepe University, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, organized the International Student Congress on ‘Digital World & Developments’ in Istanbul on April 6-7, 2017 with the participation of around 200 participants from Turkey and other 13 countries (Albania, Algeria, Indonesia, Italy, Kosovo, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Greece and France) and 4 panelists who are experts in the sector. At Marma Otel located on the campus of Maltepe University, a total of 26 workshops were presented in 5 sessions on of ‘Digital world’, ‘e-Commerce’, ‘e-Democracy’, ‘Digital Economy and Finance’ and ‘Digital Developments’ during the 2-day student congress where the participant students also presented their papers. The presentations were reflected on the screen simultaneously with the digital shares and posts. The special gifts of 20. After keynote speech, the panel sessions started with the presentations of Dr. Ayhan Artar, Instructor at Maltepe University, Çaglayan Kent Ergonul, General Manager of Address Communication Consultancy, Fusun Sarp Nebil, Founder of turk-internet.com, Deniz Altun, Founder Partner of Klickar and Murat Polat.
During the event, VR virtual reality application was presented for the experiments of the participant students and the tours to MiniaTurk and Bosphorous were organized.
The Congress ended with the closure speech of Prof. Dr. Gonca Telli, the Dean of Business and Management Sciences at Maltepe University. Prof. Dr. Telli stated that it was important that the student conferences were organized by the universities and that they have developed the relations between the universities in this way.
