TIAD (Machine Tools Industrialists and Businessperson’s Association) successfully completed the EU project which aims to increase qualified personnel in Machine Tools Sector and the Project concluded with a closure conference.
The Awareness and Closure Conference of ‘Developing and Operating a Machine Tools VOC-TEST Center’ Project, which is one of the EU projects of Machine Tools Industrialists and Businessperson’s Association (TIAD) and conducted within the framework of VOC-Test Centers Grant Programme, realized in Titanic Business Hotel in Istanbul on June 1, 2013.
The conference was realized with great interest of the attendees from different institutions. Zuhtu Bakir, Head of Sectors Department of T.R. Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology; Prof. Dr Mustafa Balci, Education and Training Sector Manager of Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey; Turan Kucuk, Test and Certification Department Expert of Vocational Qualification Authority (VQA); Ahmet Gozukucuk, Deputy Secretary General of Turkish Accreditation Agency; Wim Broekhuizen, Project Leader of Centre of Expertise on Vocational Education, Training and the Labour Market (Kenteq), Petronela Drambei, Projects and International Relations Department Manager of Romanian National R&D Institute of Agriculture and Food Machinery (INMA) ; Bianca Badanoiu, Manager of Vocational Education Center of INMA; Azize Gokmen, President of Vocational & Technical Education Development Center of Bahcesehir University, The members of TIAD, the academicians and the sector representatives attended to the conference.
TIAD is planning to provide vocational qualification certifications to 2500 persons in the Machine Tools sector until the end of 2015 as a result of the EU funded project which targets to solve unemployment problem in the sector. TIAD will make tests to measure the vocational qualifications in the Machine Tools industry after accredited by TURKAK at the end of 2013 September by providing certificates approved by Vocational Qualifications Authority in Turkey to the successful candidates.
Leyla Arsan, the Project Coordinator of TIAD, said: “The project started in 2010 and during the project cycle we collaborated a lot with national and international institutions. At the beginning we did not know what would happen and learned all together by working hard and finally on 2012 September TIAD Vocational Test Center (TIAD MTM) has been established, now project ends but this is only a beginning”
TİAD President of the Board Dr. Erdal Gamsız said: “To increase the competence in Machine Tools means to increase the competence of all industries which is one of the most important steps in Turkey’s industry development.”
