The European Union continues to support all types of research and innovation activities carried out by different research bodies in the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). In order to increase the technology skills of the research bodies, the FP7 has made announcement of 41 new calls for grant with 7 billion € budget on 20th of July, 2011.
Each specific programme will support a range of research and innovation actions involving the active collaboration of research teams from all sectors, including industry, SMEs, universities and other higher education institutions, research institutes and centres, international European interest organisations, civil society organisations, and any other legal entities. In the process of the EU membership, Turkish institutions, will be able to benefit from these project supports in the same conditions with EU member states. However, with the projects that will be submitted, Turkish institutions must contribute to technological development not only in Turkey but also in Europe.
The difference of these calls from the previous calls is that there are the biggest ever calls for proposals, up by 9 % from last year. Secondly, this set of calls for proposals is the first that is tailored to fit the radical new policy framework that the Commission set out in October 2010 under the Innovation Union action plan.
The distinct themes to submit projects and the budget for the themes under each specific programme are clearly shown in the below table.
