Europe aims to establish new technologies for a more sustainable, efficient, secure and competitive energy systems. To this end the European Union supports new and innovative energy projects with a clear vision of using diverse mix of resources especially renewables. The European Commission opened a project call under the EU 7th Framework Programme Energy Theme in order fund successful projects in the required topics and foresees 147 million euro budget for the projects. However, there are some rules and criteria to submit a proposal to the European Commission. TAGES will provide training to the renewable energy SMEs supported under the EU funded FIRE project on the participation of the EU funded projects on the 30th of May 2008 in İstanbul.
energy_transport.jpgThe new call under the energy topic (FP7-ENERGY-2008-TREN-1) is directed by DG Transport and Energy and the projects including research activities having an impact in the short to medium term will be funded. Therefore, for most of the projects demonstration activities should be the main activity of the projects. The topics on which you can prepare and submit EU-wide projects are:
RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY GENERATION
- Multiple benefits of PV Systems
- High Efficiency medium-to-large scale electricity generation from biomass and waste
- Demonstration of large scale systems for on and off shore wind farms including their cost effective grid integration
- Increased electricity production from enhanced geothermal systems and from low enthalpy geothermal sources
- Improve the environmental profile of the CSP installations
- Ocean: demonstration of innovative full size systems
- Storage for intermittent electricity
RENEWABLE FUEL PRODUCTION
- Biofuels from high moisture content biomass – Biomethane production
- Bioethanol production from lignocellulosics
CLEAN COAL TECHNOLOGIES AND ACTIVITY ENERGY.5&6 CROSS-CUTTING ACTIONS
- Advanced Fluidized Bed Combustion technology
- Efficiency Improvement of Oxygen-based combustion
- Advanced gas turbines for solid fuel gasification processes
- Feasibility and engineering study for development of an integrated solution for a large scale zero emission fossil fuel power plant
- Extending the value chain for GHG emissions other than CO2
SMART ENERGY NETWORKS
- Diagnostics, Surveillance, Maintenance and Control of Power Transmissionand Grid Connections
- Assessment of needs for reliable and flexible future European gas networks
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND SAVINGS
- High efficiency poly-generation – renewable energies for applications in manufacturing industry and the tertiary sector
- CONCERTO communities: the way to the future
Build Energy Communities with CONCERTO
This call for project largely focuses on renewable electricity generation, renewable fuel production and energy efficiency and saving namely renewable energies for applications in industry and CONCERTO communities. CONCERTO is a European initiative that supports defined geographical areas or zones to develop their own energy solutions, strategies and energy efficient actions. CONCERTO focuses on integration of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures, design and management of energy efficient eco-buildings, district heating, combined heat and power. A CONCERTO community should respond the need to increase the renewable energy supply in heating and cooling and reduce the energy demand and intelligently manage energy, efficiently store energy in order the cover the variability of renewable energy supply. There are now 46 CONCETO communities in 18 projects.
Training on EU Projects for the FIRE SMEs
TAGES supports the participation of about 40 renewable energy SMEs into the EU funded energy projects and give one to one consulting to these companies under the EU supported FIRE project. On 30th May 2008, TAGES will provide training to these SMEs on the EU 7th Framework programme to help them understand the programme strategies and funding rules and ease their participation in the energy projects. Moreover, TUBİTAK representatives will provide information on the opportunities for energy SMEs in the EU 7th Framework Programme. Moreover the training programme will include the success stories with examples of energy projects in order to present the participant SMEs the expertise acquired during the project participation and project management.
