Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Istanbul organized the Eurostars-2 Info Day on February 11, 2015 on ISO Odakule Meclis Hall. Eurostars is a programme that supports research-performing small and medium enterprises, which develop innovative products, processes and services, to gain competitive advantage.
Marcela Palacka, EUREKA Secretariat and Eurostars Project Officer promoted the programme in the event. Eurostars is a joint programme between EUREKA and EU which is dedicated to R&D-performing SMEs. The programme supports market oriented projects for products or processes which can be realized in short term. Eurostars Programme doesn’t have limitations on expertise or sector for SMEs.
Programme’s budget under Horizon 2020 is 1.148 billion euros. A typical Eurostars project is expected to have 3-4 participants, from 2-3 countries with an average duration of 29 months and it is expected to have 1.4 million euro average project cost.
From its establishment Eurostars Programme approved 783 projects out of 3548 applications and among these 27 projects had a partner from Turkey.
Applying process proceeds in two steps; first the businesses apply and submit their project proposals to the EUREKA secretariat with at least 2 partners. The applications will be evaluated by experts from various aspects. Secondly, the projects apply to be funded by their national funding bodies. For Turkey, the national funding body is TUBITAK. Turkish applicants apply to TUBITAK TEYDEB’s 1509 Programme to be funded, after the joint application to EUREKA secretariat. The funded projects are monitored both during the project and also during market introduction.
The next deadline for submitting an application to Eurostars is 17 September 2015 20:00 Brussels Time. The registration will open soon. You can find more detailed info on the website of the programme: https://www.eurostars-eureka.eu/
