The final meeting of CIP (Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme) RADICAL Project, where TAGES is one of the project partners, was held in Madrid on the dates 27th and 28th January 2016.
RADICAL (RApid Deployment and adoption of sustainable socially-aware and intelligent sensing services for emerging smart cities) is an EU funded Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (2007 to 2013) Pilot actions Funding Scheme Project coordinated by ATOS Spain and TAGES is a partner in the Project. In the scope of RADICAL, TAGES has a role to perform the analysis of stakeholders’ requirements and requirements for Pilot operations, user evaluation tasks and planning of sustainability and replicability of the services. The final meeting of the RADICAL project was held in Madrid, Spain hosted by the project coordinator ATOS Spain. The project ended officially at the end of February 2016.
The aim of the project is to develop, deploy and operate interoperable social networking and Internet of Things services in smart cities.
RADICAL Project integrates, deploys and pilots seven services in the areas of Cycling Safety, Green Products Management, Data Journalism, Participatory Urbanism, Augmented Reality, Eco-consciousness and Commercial and transactional data for pedestrian flows. These services are supported by five SMEs and accordingly replicated across six smart cities and one region.
RADICAL platform is able to support the structured and rapid development of services leveraging emerging Social Networks and Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures, while at the same time dealing with the ever important legal, governance and socio-economic issues.
The RADICAL platform is integrated based on readily available social networking platforms and smart city infrastructures (including sensing and IoT infrastructures). Based on this platform, RADICAL ensures the replicability and interoperability of social networking and IoT based services across different cities, which possess heterogeneous infrastructures and operate under different legal environments. Thus, RADICAL reduces the heterogeneity of different urban environments in order to facilitate the sustainable and cost-efficient deployment of smart city services. Furthermore, within RADICAL, “added-value” services were developed on top of the aforementioned services.
