European Union continues on encouraging the development of ICT projects under the 7th Framework Programme. 4th call for ICT projects (FP7-ICT-2009-4) is opened on 19th November 2008. The budget for ICT projects in this call is 801 million €. Project proposals prepared under 28 topics will be supported by the European Commission.
The deadline for project proposal submission is 1st April, 2009. The call is open for the participation of all legal institutions including SMEs, big companies, public and private institutions and NGOs. It is expected that project consortiums are built including European partners; research proposals are prepared which will define the future technologies of Europe in the area of ICT. The topics to submit projects and the budget for projects under each topic are presented in the below table:

ICT for Smart Electricity Networks
Another project call is opened which foresees the cooperation in 2 areas: ICT and Energy. 20 million € is granted to this call. This project call FP7-ICT-ENERGY-2009-1 will fund collaborative projects prepared with European partners under the topic of Novel ICT solutions for Smart Electricity Distribution Network. The deadline for project submission is 31 March 2009. Successful projects will be selected by the European Commission and provided with financial support to realize the project.
Project Proposers’ Day in Budapest
The European Commission’s Information Society and Media Directorate-General organize a networking event in Budapest in cooperation with the Hungarian National Office for Research and Technology. ICT Proposers’ Day on the 22nd January 2009 will host European stakeholders who want to collaborate in European research projects in the areas of ICT. ICT Proposers’ Day will let the participants learn the details of project preparation and submission rules and procedures and meet each other to develop new projects in cooperation. TUBITAK, will also provide flight support for Turkish participants who will make a meeting with potential partners in order to form a project consortium.
