Traffic is one of the biggest challenges in the metropolitan cities and Istanbul is one of the first cities that comes to mind when talking about this issue. Ethiad Magazine (Issue 60, Dec 2014) featured an article about this problem and four good practices from Istanbul which contribute to solve the Istanbul’s traffic. One of them is the CitySDK Project (www.citysdk.eu) explained by Leyla Arsan, CEO of TAGES.
Istanbul is the largest urban area in Europe and the fifth-largest metropolitan city in the World. Rural to urban migration combined with high population growth expanded the city from one million in 1950 to two million in 1970. From 2008 to 2012, an extra one million residents were added to the city alone according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. Estimates push the population to 18 million by 2025. We asked four Istanbul transport experts what can be done.
