TAGES contributes to the development of research, technology and innovation in Agrofood sector with the AGFORISE project (AGroFOod clusters platform with common long-term Research and Innovation Strategy towards Economic growth and prosperity) The project aims to increase the overall capacity of the research players in agrofood sector for supporting research and technological development in Mersin Region in Turkey, Emilia-Romagna Region in Italy and Murcia Region in Spain with European Union support.
The project is funded by the European Union under 7th Framework
Programme and has 13 partners from Turkey, Spain and Italy. Mersin Special Provincial Administration is coordinating the AGFORISE project. TAGES is one of the Turkish partners in the project along with Mersin Special Provincial Administration, Alata Horticultural Research Institute, Targid Gida, and Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The AGFORISE project aims to create a common dialogue platform and a joint action plan among the Agrofood clusters in order to maximize capacity for research and benefit from research infrastructure. The project will contribute to the sustainable development, economic growth and prosperity in the Mersin Region in Turkey, Emilia-Romagna Region in Italy and Murcia Region in Spain.
The AGFORISE project specifically focuses on;
- Strengthening a sustainable dialogue between the participant Agrofood clusters,
- Creating an R&D&I Strategy Dialogue & Cooperation,
- Enhancing Trade & Investment opportunities in Agrofood sector,
- Maintaining sustainability of cross-collaboration between the participant regions,
- Stimulating utilization from national/EU R&D funds.
The AGFORISE project will build and support links between regional authorities, research entities, business entities and local community by creating interregional cooperation. The project will also favor trans-national and cross-border cooperation among different parties for mutual learning in developing and creating research driven clusters, developing Joint Action Plans at the European level for increasing capacity and competitiveness by means of research and technological development.
AGFORISE is one of the Food Cluster projects in Europe.
The project has started in February 2009 and will last 36 months. TAGES will contribute to the analysis of Agrofood Sector in Mersin, to the enhancement of cross collaboration among research and commercial communities with its experience in FP projects, network communication, and innovation based strategy definitions and analyses, as well as to the dissemination of the project results and outputs to the related stakeholders through website, leaflets, and conferences.
