TAGES got in touch with the SMEs in the ‘EU Research and Development Programmes SME Conference’ organized by TUBİTAK on 14-15 February 2008, in Istanbul and presented them how they can be an EASIER SME and benefit from the services provided by TAGES under the EASIER: Engaging regional SMEs within the ICT sector in EU research project.
‘EU Research and Development Programmes SME Conference’ hosted many distinguished speakers and more than 150 SME representatives, academicians and researchers from various sectors. In the conference, TAGES represented the EU funded EASIER project via EASIER project stand and informed the participants about how they can benefit from the project opportunities provided for the ICT SMEs to participate in the research projects. With the EASIER project, TAGES assists nearly 250 ICT SMEs in participating in the project proposals and developing project ideas to be submitted to the EU funded programmes.
In the conference, the SMEs are informed about the EU specific financial support provided for the SMEs in their R&D activities and innovations. Bernd Reichert, the Head of SME Unit in the European Commission, talked about the EU SME Research Policy and IPR in Research for the Benefit of SMEs Programme. Moreover, Annabelle Ascher, Project Officer in the SME Unit of DG Research, European Commission, gave hints about how to write a competitive proposal and the project evaluation process.
Moreover, participant SMEs are informed about how they can benefit from the other EU funding opportunities besides the EU Framework Programmes such as the CIP-Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, EUREKA and the newly initiated EUROSTARS programme.
