The Machine Manufacturers Association- MİB has started its training sessions on the CE directives. The training is taking place on 7-11 May 2007 and 28 May-1 June 2007 in Ankara. The training is provided by the experts from Oostende Catholic University (KHBO)- Belgium and it aims to create expertise in machinery sector on CE directives.
The expertise training is organized by MIB and is being held under the ‘Development of Expertise on Acquis Communautaire in Turkish Machinery Sector’ project funded by Civil Society Dialogue: Europa Bridges of Knowledge Programme. The expertise training is given in two sessions; first a session with a general view on CE marking and EU directives was held on May 7th-11th 2007, and another session emphasizing technical issues will be realized on May 28th – June 1st, 2007.
The training is being held in Ministry of Industry and Commerce and almost 20 experts have been selected to participate into the sessions. Besides the 3 experts in MIB, the participants include academicians from the mechanical, electronics and industrial engineering departments of the Turkish universities who work with a stress on the compliance with the European acquis, as well as the technical staff from the Turkish Standards Institution, Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, Undersecretariat for Foreign Trade, and Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The participants are expected to gain a basic knowledge and expertise on the CE directives in the machinery sector. The training sessions are training participants on the Acquis Communautaire and the implementation of the EU directives relevant to machinery sector and providing exchange of best practices and the practical and technical information transfer. After the trainings a hard core expert group will be created in order to fill the shortages of qualified people in Turkey who have technical knowledge on the application of the EC directives for the full convergence with the Acquis Communautaire.
About the Project:
The Machine Manufacturers Association’s project is titled ‘Development of Expertise on Acquis Communautaire in Turkish Machinery Sector’ and funded by Europa Bridges of Knowledge Programme. The project aims to create expertise on related EU directives in MIB. The project envisages the dissemination of this expertise created in MIB to the machine manufacturers in Turkey. The project is coordinated by Leyla Arsan, TAGES CEO and activities are conducted by Hikmet Barutçu, TAGES Ankara Operations Coordinator
As a part of the first project activities, ‘Need Assessment Survey’ was carried out in order to understand the problems and the needs of the machinery sector on the CE directives. 3 experts of the MIB’s Expertise Unit will conduct a best-practice visit to the Czech Republic on 14-16 May in order to practically see the compliance of Czech machine manufacturers with the EU directives. Within the framework of the project, an ‘Expertise Unit’ in MIB and an expertise sharing web platform will be created to provide technical support and information for the adoption of the related EU directives by the enterprises working in machinery sector. When the project is completed, MIB will serve as a ‘help desk’ in the machinery sector by responding to the needs of the sector on the application of the directives.
The project has 2 foreign partners; Oostende Catholic University (KHBO) from Belgium and Italian Machine Manufacturers Union (UCIMU). Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Engineering Technique (SST) from CzechRepublic, Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade and Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Trade are participating to the project as associate partners. The remaining part of the grant of the project is sponsored by Siemens and Bosch Rexroth.
