Turkey as being one of the candidate countries in European Union, has the necessity to localise Digital Agenda in Turkey and finally Turkey’s best experts on ICT formed a group under the Digital Agenda Going Local for Turkey Project which is lead by the Digital Turkey Platform together with the sponsorship of Turk Telekom.
Since the launch in May 2010, The Digital Agenda for Europe (DAE) aims to reboot Europe’s economy and help Europe’s citizens and businesses to get the most out of digital technologies and continues its studies all around the Europe.
Turkey as being one of the candidate countries in European Union, has the necessity to localise Digital Agenda in Turkey and finally Turkey’s best experts on ICT formed a group under the Digital Agenda Going Local for Turkey Project which is lead by the Digital Turkey Platform together with the sponsorship of Turk Telekom.
The kick-off meeting of the project was held in Koç Sistem premises in July 2013.
The Project team is formed as: Leyla Arsan Project Leader, Ebru Zeybek Project Assistant, Erdem Gülgener Digital Single Market and Interoperability and Standards Expert, Murat Apohan Trust and Securty Expert, Bülent Erbaş Fast and Ultra-Fast Internet Access Expert, Haluk Gökmen Research and Innovation Expert, Aydın Kolat Digital Literacy Expert, Gonca Telli Yamamoto ICT Enabled Benefits for EU Society Expert and Ali Akurgal The National Aspects Expert.
The project targets to benefit and leverage the ICT ecosystem of Turkey by establishing the alignment with EU through analysing and evaluating the DAE activities for Turkey and provide feedback to DAE with Turkey’s local actions need and Turkey’s scoreboard indicators. In the project report the actions and the suggestions on the Turkey Scoreboard is going to be published to be submitted to the public authorities and European Commission.
There are 7 pillars of Digital Agenda lead by the experts in the team:
- Pillar I: Digital Single Market
- Pillar II: Interoperability & Standards
- Pillar III: Trust & Security
- Pillar IV: Fast and ultra-fast Internet access
- Pillar V: Research and innovation
- Pillar VI: Enhancing digital literacy, skills and inclusion
- Pillar VII: ICT-enabled benefits for EU society
During the kick-off meeting the roadmap of the project has been discussed and the studies are being proceed for :
- Analysing the actions and the scoreboard defined by the DAE,
- Defining the necessary actions for Turkey among DAE actions
- Defining the necessary actions for Turkey beyond DAE actions
- Prioritising the lists of actions for each of 7 pillar for Turkey’s benefit
- Analysing the Scoreboard incators of DAE and evaluate them for Turkey
- Defining new Scoreboard indicators for Turkey
- Generating a Scoreboard for Turkey
- Providing plans for sustainable and continous work
